In 2015, Galway City native Francis Kelly had a bold idea — to create the first truly local craft cider for the West of Ireland. More than just a new product, he wanted to craft something the people of Galway could take pride in, and visitors would remember: a cider that tasted like home.

Having grown up surrounded by community, tradition, and the storytelling spirit of Galway, Francis envisioned more than just a drink. He imagined a cider that reflected the heritage, culture, and pride of his home town that he so loved.

After years of experimenting, researching, and tasting his way toward the perfect blend, Galway Cider Co. was officially launched in 2019.

Made with 100% Irish apples, Galway Cider offers a delicate blend of sweet, ripe, red apples, balanced with a crisp slightly dry finish, offering an explosion of flavour, guaranteed to brighten up anyone’s day – just like our beloved Galway!

The brand’s label, originally featuring only the Spanish Arch, has since been updated to include other iconic Galway landmarks too — a nod to the city’s culture and a deeper connection to the community that inspired it all.

What sets Francis apart is his belief in what cider can represent. Every bottle tells a story: of Irish craft, of place, of passion. His journey with Galway Cider Co. is a testament to following your vision, staying rooted in where you come from, and building something meaningful — one drop at a time.  

Today, Francis continues to lead Galway Cider with the same spirit that started it all: local roots, bold ideas, and a love of good cider.
